Wow…I really am so inconsistent about posting…it’s kinda impressive…haha
I’ve been spending a lot more time just chilling out and getting to know myself better, feel where I am in life…sorry if this is redundant with my previous post(s), I honestly can’t remember what I wrote before…but then again, life is about continuously getting to know ourselves better, right?
It seems kinda whiny to bring this up again as the midway point of 2024 is nearly upon us, but 2023 was a really difficult year for me. The journey of getting over my emotional “bruises” meant allowing a significant amount of time to muse over things and figure out where things went south, what really bothered me. I think I’ve made good progress on this journey to regain inner peace.
HOWEVER, if I must level with y’all 100%, this inconsistency and long hiatuses between my blog posts is largely due to (you guessed it) my own laziness XDDD
Well, you could also consider it a sign that I’ve succeeded in making it back towards inner peace since writing was somewhat of an emotional outlet for me, a way to vent my frustrations and hear my own voice amidst the deafening thunderstorms of life.
Ahem, I’ve also been completely obsessed with retail therapy (a.k.a. online shopping) these past months and discovered a couple of gems I’d like to share with y’all. Just a disclosure: I bought the items with my own money. I’m not sponsored nor affiliated with any of these brands (although if they would like to sponsor me, I would certainly be interested in exploring potential partnerships, haha).
I’d been looking for a nice luggage at a reasonable price point for my upcoming summer vacay trip to London and stumbled across Monos. I bought a Medium Check-In in Blue Haze and Large Check-In in Rose Quartz (ended up returning the Medium Check-In since it was a bit small for my purposes). The items arrived super quickly and I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful colors, quality seemed pretty solid, but it hasn’t really been put to the test yet, we’ll see after my upcoming trip.
They had some pretty good deals during their anniversary sale around March 20th (25% off!), and also seem to be having a 15% off Mother’s Day sale right now. Just beware the return policy is a bit tricky, I mistakenly only selected one item instead of two that I wanted to return which caused a lot of confusion, it was my fault for not checking. The customer service agent was very helpful, but the issue just took a long time to resolve. Also, the return shipping fee can be quite hefty (up to USD$50), which is understandable since the luggage package is rather large, so I’d advise to think carefully before finalizing your order.
No matter what the season, I always feel like I don’t have anything to wear. I came to the astonishing realization that the true reason behind this phenomenon was because I always buy “special occasion clothes” which are super useless in every day life. So the moral of the story is: there’s a reason why fashion vloggers and influencers are always emphasizing basic pieces, e.g., white t-shirts, nice blazers, jeans that fit your body type well, etc. It’s better to invest in these basic pieces rather than spending energy and money on “special occasion clothes” I can only wear once or twice or maybe a handful of times in a lifetime.
A couple of my go to brands for basic pieces are Cos, Uniqlo, and Aritzia, I really like rag & bone as well. Oh, I also holistically elevated my quality of life with silk pajamas #Lilysilk (they have lots of sales too, especially recently with Mother’s Day just around the corner). The only problem is, now I feel like I need silk blankets, duvets, and sheets as well…well we gotta leave something to look forward to, right?
Recent movie recommendations if you’re feeling at a loss for what to watch at the cinema: Kungfu Panda 4 and The Fall Guy.
The Fall Guy completely exceeded my expectations and I had a blast watching it on the big screen, it was the first movie in a long time that made me really enjoy the cinema experience. It gave me a whole new perspective on the unfamiliar world of stunt doubles, it was truly a “love letter” to the incredibly talented individuals who make the whole movie experience what it is. I could really feel the director, and all the cast and crew’s passion and artistry in bringing this film to life onscreen, kudos to them! Really appreciate their hard work! (Maybe I will write a movie review if I can motivate myself XD)
To finish off this rambling, I’d like to share my fav new song:
Well, until next time (whenever that may be) dear readers!
