Alas, despite the extra day, February has left already. Now I’m left to wonder: what did I do last month? Between Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, and the fifteen days of Chinese New Year starting with 2/10/24 Chinese New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival (2/24/24), it would appear I spent most of February partying or en route to partying.
T’was a productive month for Rosie. I finished my taxes and started planning my summer vacation trip! #London#2024#Excited!!! XD
I produced one of the finest vlogs of my vlogging career (well tbh, that’s what I say about each of my new vlogs, LOL). I mean, I’m constantly striving to improve my skills as an editor and videographer, so each vlog is like an assessment of my journey thus far. Anyhow, this particular vlog that I’m so very proud of was a gift to one of my very close and dear friends. She enjoyed it a lot which made me even happier!
I came across some nice stories this past month as well. I’ve been quite obsessed with the fast transmigration (快穿) genre. Basically the MC (main character) transmigrates through different worlds accompanied by a “system;” sometimes the “system” plays a major role in handing out different missions, sometimes the MC is just left to figure things out on his/her own. The stories usually fall along the lines of: villain(ess)-turned-good-and-enacts-revenge or the like. The main pro of this genre (IMHO) is that each “world” the MC lives is a mini-story which makes each story rather concise compared to a full on single story. With limited time and energy for reading, I feel like this genre gives me the most bang for my buck. Plus, I don’t need to invest more energy into getting to know a new character every time I start a new book. #lazy-reader
I recently rediscovered the wonders of podcasts/audiobooks, when I’m tired of staring at little black symbols on a white page, I can just listen to a full book in the background while I drive to work or clean! The other day I finished the audiobook “On the Shortness of Life” by Seneca, renowned Roman philosopher and one of the figureheads of Stoicism. It was such an insightful “read” and a much-needed workout for my dormant brain muscles, highly recommend. I’d like to share a few of my favorite quotes (I will try to refrain from quoting the whole book):
“You act like mortals in all that you fear, and like immortals in all that you desire.” (so true!)
“There is nothing the busy man is less busied with than living.”
“The greatest obstacle to living is expectancy, which hangs upon tomorrow and loses today… The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately.”
“It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it has been given in sufficiently generous measure to allow the accomplishment of the very greatest things if the whole of it is well invested.”
“The part of life we really live is small. For all the rest of existence is not life, but merely time.”
^“On the Shortness of Life” by Seneca
Ok, ok, I will just stop here or else I really am just going to copy-paste the whole book here.
I’d like to share one of my favorite purchase of February: the Dyson Airstrait! As the name suggests, it’s a hair straightener + dryer, two-in-one! Ahem, you can probably sense my excitement from all the exclamation points, I’m SO happy with this purchase! Sure it costed a pretty penny, but my hair is rambunctiosly wavy and has a mind of its own, every day is a struggle for the lazy office worker, who wouldn’t want five more minutes of sleep in the morning? It’s a pretty good long-term investment given that I’ve invested a good couple hundred dollars every year in hair treatments, now I can just take care of it myself. I did manage to catch the Valentine’s Day special promo on the official Dyson website, $100 off + a free travel-case worth $59.99.
Notable K-dramas I’ve been following lately are: “Doctor Slump” (starring Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye), “Flex X Cop” (starring Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Ji-hyun). I ditched most of the previous dramas I had recommended…not necessarily because they weren’t good, but I just have a short attention span…
To wrap things up, I wanted to share two of my favorite new songs, there were a lot of good songs released so far this year!
That’s all from Rosie! Hope everyone has a great new month!
